Chronic Pain

“The human spirit is stronger than anything that happens to it.” C.C. Scott

Chronic pain is pain that lasts longer than 3 months. It is very hard to treat medically because of its complex origins. Major effects in the patient’s life are: depressed mood, fatigue, reduced activity and libido, excessive use of drugs and alcohol, dependent behaviour, and disability out of proportion with impairment.

When I work with chronic pain, I explore root physical and emotional causes, and also work with the nervous system to soothe and calm the nerves. While the effects are not always permanent, significant pain reduction can happen in just one session. This allows for the system to relax as the pain syndrome is broken.

Chronic pain can produce isolation and loneliness, and the relational aspect of the healing touch is often very nourishing and restorative.
